ZUK Z2 receives above 6 million registrations for pilot sale

ZUK Z2 was officially launched at an event in China earlier this week and will go on pilot sale on June 7. The registrations for the flash sale is up and running since the unveiling and the company has revealed that more than 6 million consumers have already registered. However, it does not mean that more than 6 million units have been pre-ordered or these number of units will get sold in the pilot flash sale; it just means that there is a lot of demand for this smartphone.

It is the latest smartphone from ZUK, a Lenovo-backed company, after they announced the ZUK Z2 Pro back in April 2016. The ZUK Z2 is available in White and Black color variants. It has been priced at CNY 1799 (US$ 273 / INR Rs 18,440 approximately).

ZUK has also introduced a USB Type-C wireless charger for the smartphone, which can be used with a charging cover. It has been priced at CNY 299 (US$ 45 / Rs. 3,065 approximately). Lets check out the specifications and features of this device once again to refresh our memories.

The ZUK Z2 sports a 5.0-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD LTPS 2.5 curved glass display that comes with 500 nits of brightness, 100,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio and 100% NTSC color gamut. The display has a 1.41 mm narrow bezel on both sides. It is powered by a 2.15 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. It has 4 GB of RAM with 64 GB of internal memory (UFS 2.0), which cannot be expanded via microSD card slot. It runs on ZUI 2.0 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS out of the box.

On the camera front, the Z2 rocks a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, ISOCELL sensor, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), f/2.2 aperture, 5P lens, CAF dual-mode focus and EIS. It has a 8 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture, 1.4 µm pixel size and 78.9-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calling. It supports Dual SIM (nano) and comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack. The body is made up of a metal frame, which is 8.45 mm thick and weighs 149 grams. It comes with U-Touch 2.0 fingerprint sensor that has been embedded into the home button, which can unlock the phone in just 0.1 seconds and also promises an accuracy of 99.7%.

The ZUK Z2 comes with 4G LTE with VoLTE support, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and USB 2.0 Type C as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 3,500 mAh battery under the hood with Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 support and can charge the device from 0-80% in just 1 hour.
