ZTE Star 2 was announced by ZTE couple of weeks ago. It is the successor of the Star 1 which was launched in China earlier in 2014. Lets go through the specifications of the smartphone.
The ZTE Star 2 smartphone features a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD OGS display which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. It is powered by 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor along with Adreno 330 GPU. It has 2 GB of RAM and comes with 16 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded via microSD card. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat with the company’s Mifavour 3.0 UI running on top of it and will possibly be updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
This smartphone has a differentiating feature from other smartphones as it has system-level voice and speech recognition solution which works even when there is no network and it is offline. This feature has a rapid response rate of just 1.2 seconds, along with 90% success rate even in noisy conditions, according to ZTE.
The system-level voice and speech recognition will let you unlock the phone with one’s unique voice tone, make phone calls, play music, open third-party apps, take photos and a lot more. ZTE Star 2 has support of more than 1000 patents, of which 158 are related to voice control, according to the company.
ZTE Star 2 comes with a 13-megapixel rear auto-focus camera with dual LED flash. It is also capable of recording Full HD 1080p videos. On the front, it has a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with 88-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calling. The smartphone is only 6.9 mm thick and supports only one sim (micro).
The ZTE Star 2 includes 4G LTE/3G, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 2,300 mAh battery under the hood.
The ZTE Star 2 is available in Black and White colour variants and has been priced at 2499 Chinese Yuan (USD 400/ INR 25,000 approximately) in China. The company will be announcing details about the global launch after few months.
