YouTube to bring ad free video subscription service

YouTube is about to bring an ad free video subscription for the first time. The paid service will allow the users to watch videos without any advertisement. YouTube Music Key Subscription was also launched a while back.

According to a report from Bloomberg, YouTube is all set to start a paid subscription service which will allow the users to watch videos without viewing advertisements. The ad free video subscription service will supposedly be priced at about US $10 per month.

YouTube will be paying 55 percent of the generated revenues to its content partners, according to an email sent by YouTube. The revenue is determined by the monthly views or watch time of the content.

“We’re excited to build on this momentum by taking another big step in favour of choice: offering fans an ads-free version of YouTube for a monthly fee. By creating a new paid offering, we’ll generate a new source of revenue that will supplement your fast growing advertising revenue.”, Google said in the email.

YouTube has also planned to let the content creators upload specific videos behind a shield (pay wall). It implies that the subscribers will need to sign up for the ad free video subscription service of YouTube in order to watch them. This model of business is being implemented to compete with services like Netflix Inc. and Hulu LLC.

Google recently launched YouTube Kids.
