Xiaomi’s upcoming Redmi 2S spotted on TENNA and AnTuTu

Xiaomi devices were highly accepted by Indian users and they got a platform to showcase themselves. The most sold devices of the three Xiaomi MI3, Redmi 1S and Redmi Note was Xiaomi Redmi 1S which was a pretty good phone at a very affordable range and the company sold around 6,00,000 units in India via online megastore Flipkart. After this huge success the company is working on the next iteration of the device, the Xiaomi Redmi 2S which has appeared on AnTuTu benchmarks page alongside TENNA. Recently Delhi High Court placed a temporary ban on Xiaomi devices due to an infringement issue. Later the ban was partially lifted and the next lot of Redmi 1S will go on sale on Dec 23rd.

Because of its appearance now we have got a fair idea of its specification. The Redmi 2S is further more compact than the Redmi 1S having dimensions of 134 x 67.2 x 9.2mm (Redmi 2S) vs. 137 x 69 x 9.9mm (Redmi 1S). With the size of the device the obvious thing which got trimmed down is its weight which is 134g vs. 159 g of the Redmi 1S. The Redmi 2S follows its predecessor and boast a same 4.7-inch display. The smartphone will also feature the same 8-megapixel camera with LED flash. The front shooter got updated from 1.3-megapixel to 2-megapixel. The redmi 2S would run on Snapdragon 410 SoC which means the Cortex-A7 cores give way to 64-bit capable Cortex-A53 cores, but the clock speed drops from 1.6GHz to 1.2GHz. The device will be backed up by a 2,200 mAH battery. The device would run on the latest MIUI software with Android 4.4.4 as its base.

A physical changes had been made in the device. The Redmi 2S now features slimmer bezel which has actually helped to make the device more compact. The LED flash is now situated at the left of the camera and the rest remains the same.

Xiaomi Redmi 2S will feature LTE.  It also brings Wi-Fi b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0. The TENNA listing points out Redmi 2S as a single SIM device unlike the Redmi 1S which is a Dual SIM smartphone.
