Xiaomi has sold more than 6 million Mi Bands globally

Xiaomi has a very popular fitness band which has now made them the second largest wearable manufacturer in the world, just below Fitbit. Above 6 million Mi Bands have been sold so far, according to Xiaomi.

Xiaomi had sold more than 4 million Mi Bands by April since its launch and according to the latest numbers, more than 6 million have been sold worldwide. It is not surprising considering it’s the most affordable fitness band with no competition in the market. We expect it to sell more aggressively since it has been launched in India and recently in USA, UK, France and Germany.

According to IDC, Xiaomi has around 25% share of all wearables that were sold in Q1 of 2015 and is also the second largest wearable manufacturer, in less than a year after releasing its one and only wearable. Hugo Barra has promised to launch a smartwatch soon which will be slimmer than the standard smartwatches and also come with the best user experience. The company is also working on the second generation Mi Band.

Xiaomi Mi Band

The Xiaomi Mi Band is a fitness band and sleep tracker which monitors daily fitness level. It will measure your activity levels, track walking distance and calculate calories burned.

The Xiaomi Mi Band will wake you up with its smart vibration alarm feature that goes off gently 30 minutes, before the time you set the alarm. Thus, it will help you wake up gradually which will make you forget the hated snooze button.

The Mi Band syncs with the app to analyze fitness and sleep activities which in turn will help improve your lifestyle. It connects with most Android smartphones and iOS devices via Bluetooth 4.0 low energy (LE). The band also unlocks your phone. You can just unlock your phone by swiping the band without the need of passwords. The fitness tracker also doubles up as call alert. The band notifies about incoming calls and if a call is not picked up within a certain time, it notifies you.

The Xiaomi Mi Band is made up of 1mm thick aluminium alloy core surface using a 12-step process. It comes with a hypoallergenic band which is suitable for sensitive skin. The band has military grade exercise sensor, premium quality bluetooth chip and 41mAh ultra-thin 8mm battery which lasts around 30 days with one full charge. It is also IP-67 water-resistant.
