Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 and Mi 5 to go on open sale from June 1 in India

The Xiaomi Mi 5 is finally going on open sale (forever) in India starting from 10 AM, June 1 via the Mi India official website. It was launched in the country at the end of March and went on flash sale from April 6. Also, both the variants of the Redmi Note 3 will go on open sale in India via Amazon, Snapdeal and Flipkart at the same time. However, we guess it is not a permanent open sale for the mid-ranger. Recently, Mi India revealed that they have sold more than 6 lakh units of the Redmi Note 3. Lets check out the specifications of these two devices.

The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD fully laminated display. The phablet comes with sunlight display technology which improves screen readability using hardware-level technology to adjust contrast for each pixel in real-time. It is powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 (Quad 1.2 GHz ARM A53 + 2 x 1.8 GHz ARM A57) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 510 GPU. It packs in 2 / 3 GB of RAM along with 16 / 32 GB of internal storage which can be further expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card. The device runs on MIUI 7 based on Android Lollipop OS. Now, MIUI supports 13 Indian languages. It comes with a full metal industrial design.

The Redmi Note 3 rocks a 16 megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and f/2.0 aperture. It can shoot 1080p Full HD videos and 120fps slow-motion videos. It comes with a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. The front shooter can also capture Full HD 1080p videos. It supports Hybrid dual SIM (micro + nano / microSD card) with dual standby mode. It has a fingerprint sensor below the primary camera that unlocks in 0.3 seconds and comes with Trustonic TEE chip-level security. It is just 8.65 mm thick (at the thickest point) and weighs just 164 grams, in spite of a larger battery. It also has an Infrared sensor.

On the connectivity front, the Note 3 comes with 4G LTE (Indian band: 3, 5, 40, 41) with VoLTE support, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS and USB OTG. The phablet packs in a whopping 4,000 mAh non-removable battery under the hood that supports fast charging. It charges from 0-50% in 1 hour flat and full charge in 3 hours.

The Xiaomi Mi 5 features a 5.15-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD LCD display with 2.5D curved protection. It has a brightness of 600 nits and comes with a NTSC color gamut of 95%. It is powered by a 1.8 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. It packs in 3 GB of LPDDR4 RAM along with 32 GB of internal storage (UFS 2.0), which cannot be expanded via microSD card. The device runs on MIUI 7 based on Android Marshmallow OS. It comes with a 3D glass body with strong glass on the back side.

The Mi 5 rock a 16 megapixel rear primary camera with dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX298 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), 4-axis OIS. It can shoot 4K videos, comes with DTI pixel isolation technology and Spectra image processing. It comes with a 4 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calling. It support Dual SIM (nano), comes with a fingerprint sensor and an infrared sensor. It is 7.25 mm thick, weighs 129 grams for the glass variant and 139 grams for the ceramic variant.

On the connectivity front, the Mi 5 comes with 4G LTE with VoLTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, GPS, NFC, USB Type-C and USB OTG. The smartphone packs in a 3,000 mAh built-in non-removable battery under the hood that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0. A 5 minute quick charge will offer up to 2.5 hours of talk time.
