Xiaomi has scheduled an event November 24 at the China National Convention Center. We and others had assumed that the company would launch its flagship, the Xiaomi Mi 5 along with other new devices that were spotted in the wild recently. Now, Lin Bin, Co-Founder of Xiaomi has teased an upcoming smartphone on Weibo and it looks like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro has recently got certified by TENAA in China as well. Hence, this device is launching on November 24 for sure. The ultimate flagship device from Xiaomi might not be launched on Tuesday but we cannot rule out the Mi 5 just yet since multiple devices will be announced at the event.
Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro Rumoured Specifications
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro is expected to feature a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display that will be powered by a 2.0 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio X10 (MT6795) 64-bit processor along with PowerVR G6200 GPU. It will pack in 2 GB of RAM along with 16 GB of internal storage. The device should run on MIUI 7 based on Android 5.1 Lollipop or later.
The Redmi Note 2 Pro will rock the same 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Samsung / OmniVision Sensor, 5p lens, f/2.2 aperture and 78-degree wide-angle lens found on the Redmi Note 2. The rear camera has Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) technology that allows it to focus on a subject within 0.1 seconds. It will come with a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with OmniVision sensor, 1.4 micron pixel for selfies and video calling. It will support dual SIM feature with dual standby mode. It will have a fingerprint scanner below the primary camera as shown in the images.
On the connectivity front, the Note 2 Pro will come with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, GLONASS and USB OTG. The phablet will pack in a 3,060 mAh non-removable battery under the hood.
The Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Pro is expected to be priced around CNY 1099 (US $172 / INR Rs 11,408 approximately) in China. We will know the exact pricing and availability on November 24 when Xiaomi announces it at the China National Convention Center.
