Xiaomi Redmi 3S with 2GB RAM launched in India for Rs 6999

Xiaomi India has officially launched the Xiaomi Redmi 3S and Redmi 3S Prime in India today, as expected. Lets go through the specifications and features of the budget smartphone below.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3S features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 (Quad 1.5 GHz A53 + Quad 1.2 GHz A53) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 505 GPU. It packs in 2 GB of LPDDR3 RAM along with 16 GB of internal storage (eMMC 5.0), which can be further expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. The device runs on MIUI 7 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

The Redmi 3S rocks a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF), f/2.0 aperture. It comes with a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calling. Both the cameras can shoot 1080p Full HD videos. It supports Hybrid dual SIM (micro + nano/microSD) feature, where the second SIM slot can be used as a microSD card slot and comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack. It has a full metal magnesium alloy body, which is 8.5 mm thick and weighs 144 grams. It comes with an Infrared sensor but does not feature a fingerprint sensor, which is present in the Redmi 3S Prime.

On the connectivity front, the Redmi 3S comes with 4G with VoLTE support, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS + GLONASS and USB OTG. The smartphone packs in a massive 4,100 mAh battery under the hood that supports fast charging.

The Xiaomi Redmi 3S is available in Silver, Gold and Dark Grey color variants. It has been priced at Rs 6,999 in India. It will be initially sold on and Flipkart via open sale starting from August 16, 2016.
