Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime launched in India for Rs 6999

Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime has been officially launched in India now, as expected. It is the first smartphone by Xiaomi which has been ‘Made in India’.


The Redmi 2 Prime is a special smartphone for India and the Chinese company because it comes with the tag ‘Made in India’. It is announced at an event in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh which was also attended by special guests such as the Honourable Chief Minister Mr. Naidu and DIPP Secretary Mr. Amitabh Kant.

The Redmi 2 Prime is now available on, Flipkart, Amazon India and Snapdeal for Rs. 6,999, as predicted by us. Check out the specifications of the device.


Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime Specifications

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime features a 4.7 inch (1280 x 720 pixels) LED IPS OGS display. It is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 64-bit processor along with Adreno 305 GPU. The smartphone has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card. It runs on MIUI v6 on top of Android 4.4 KitKat and will soon be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

On the camera front, the Redmi 2 Prime has a 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor with f/2.2 aperture which can shoot Full HD 1080p videos. It also has a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling which can also shoot HD videos (720p). It supports dual SIM feature with dual standby mode. It is 9.4 mm thick and weighs 133 grams.

The Redmi 2 Prime comes with 4G LTE (1800 / 2600 MHz) on both SIM cards, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS / A-GPS, GLONASS and USB OTG as connectivity options. The smartphone has a 2,200 mAh battery under the hood.
