Xiaomi is ready to launch the Redmi 2 Prime aka the Redmi 2 Pro in India soon. The listing was earlier leaked today on Amazon India.
The Redmi 2 is one of the best-selling devices from Xiaomi in India and worldwide as well. The normal 1GB RAM and 8GB ROM variant recently had a price cut and it was imminent that the ‘Pro’ variant was on its way to India. Now, it has been confirmed after it was listed on Amazon. It remains to be seen when exactly it launches and how much the company is asking the consumers to pay for it. Our gut feeling tells us, it will be priced at Rs 6,999. Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime Specifications
The Xiaomi Redmi 2 Prime features a 4.7 inch (1280 x 720 pixels) LED IPS OGS display. It is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 64-bit processor along with Adreno 305 GPU. The smartphone has 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card. It runs on MIUI v6 on top of Android 4.4 KitKat and will soon be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
On the camera front, the Redmi 2 Prime has a 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor with f/2.2 aperture which can shoot Full HD 1080p videos. It also has a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling which can also shoot HD videos (720p). It supports dual SIM feature with dual standby mode. It is 9.4 mm thick and weighs 133 grams.
The Redmi 2 Prime comes with 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS / A-GPS, GLONASS and USB OTG as connectivity options. The smartphone has a 2,200 mAh battery under the hood.
Consumers were looking forward to this particular variant for a long time. However, is it too late for Xiaomi to bring this variant to India? As, they might launch the Redmi 2s within the next couple of month in China.
