Xiaomi Redmi 2 is now available for Rs 5999 in India

Xiaomi Redmi 2 has got a price cut of Rs 1,000 today, as expected and now the budget smartphone is available for just Rs 5,999 in India.


The Redmi 2 is now available for Rs 5,999 in India from the official website, Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon India. Grey and White colour variants are available now. Redmi 2 was already an excellent budget phone at Rs 6,999 but now it undoubtedly becomes the best option, if you are looking for a phone under Rs 6,000.

Xiaomi might launch the Redmi 2 Pro variant which comes with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of internal memory in the near future.

The Xiaomi Redmi 2 features a 4.7 inch (1280 x 720 pixels) LED IPS OGS display. It is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 64-bit processor along with Adreno 305 GPU. The smartphone has 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card. It runs on MIUI v6 on top of Android 4.4 KitKat and will soon be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop.

On the camera front, the Redmi 2 has a 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor with f/2.2 aperture which can shoot Full HD 1080p videos. It also has a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling which can also shoot HD videos (720p). It supports dual SIM feature with dual standby mode. It is 9.4 mm thick and weighs 133 grams.

The Redmi 2 comes with 4G LTE (1800 / 2600 MHz) on both SIM cards, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS / A-GPS, GLONASS and USB OTG as connectivity options. The smartphone has a 2,200 mAh battery under the hood.

Xiaomi dropped the prices of Mi 4 64GBMi 4 16GB and Redmi Note 4G in India recently.
