Xiaomi has finally launched the Redmi 2 in India exclusively on Flipkart for Rs 6,999. The first flash sale will take place on March 24 and registrations will start at 6 PM today (March 12). However, Xiaomi has not launched the 2GB variant and we do not know if the company has any intentions to bring it here. The smartphone will be available in white, green, grey, yellow and pink colour variants. Lets have a look at the specifications of Redmi 2 in India.

The Redmi 2 in India features a 4.7 inch (1280 x 720 pixels) LED IPS display which is protected by AGC Dragontrail Glass. It is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 410 MSM8916 64-bit processor along with Adreno 305 GPU. The smartphone has 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 32 GB via microSD card. It runs on MIUI v6 on top of Android 4.4 KitKat and will soon be upgraded to Android 5.0 Lollipop.
On the camera front, the Redmi 2 has a 8 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, BSI sensor with f/2.2 aperture which can shoot Full HD 1080p videos. It also has a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling which can also shoot HD videos (720p). It is a dual SIM smartphone.
Xiaomi Redmi 2 in India comes with 4G LTE (TDD-LTE and FDD-LTE) on both SIM cards, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS and USB OTG as connectivity options. The smartphone has a 2,200 mAh battery under the hood.
