Earlier we reported, Xiaomi to announce Redmi 1s in India on August 22 and go on sale on August 29. Now, it looks like it is delayed by 3 days and will finally be announced on August 25.
Xiaomi has invited the tech media to an event on August 26 in New Delhi according to BGR India. It will also host the same event on August 25 in Bangalore which has their main office in India.
The Redmi 1s is a budget phone from Xiaomi which is priced at Rs. 6,999. It has a 4.7 inch 720P LED IPS Display with 321 ppi. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8228 1.6GHz processor. On the camera front, it has a 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.6 megapixel front facing camera. It comes with a 2000 mAh removable battery.
Redmi 1s has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It weighs 158 grams and is 9.9 mm in thickness. It comes with an expandable storage slot which can fit in SD cards up to 64GB. It will come preloaded with Android Kitkat with MIUI v5 on top. It is a dual SIM phone. You can find more about it here.
Mi India had started a smartphone building contest yesterday as well to garner excitement about Redmi 1s’ launch. They also have started pre-orders for the Mi Power banks which looks likely to go on sale along the Redmi 1s.
