Xiaomi enters the offline retail market in India in partnership with The Mobile Store. The Chinese giant will start by selling only two smartphones that too only in Delhi for now.
Xiaomi partners with The Mobile Store to sell smartphones in India. Although, it is limited to the Delhi NCR region, where the Mi 4 16GB and Redmi Note 4G will be sold at 55 stores. The devices will be sold at the same prices as offered by Flipkart. The Mi 4 16GB is priced at Rs 19,999 and the Redmi Note 4G is priced at Rs 9,999. The Redmi Note 4G was also sold in partnership with the Airtel Stores in limited 4G enabled cities in India.
On this occasion Manu Kumar Jain, India Head of Xiaomi said,
“This will be the first time we’re getting into offline trading in India. In China, about 20-30% of total sales come from telecom operators’ stores while the rest come from our online store – Mi.com”
The Mobile Store will also act as a service centre for repairs of Xiaomi devices, which becomes an added advantage because Xiaomi has lack of service centres in India. Although it is limited to Delhi NRC region now, we can expect it to roll over other cities as well in the near future.
The Mobile Store which is the India’s largest mobile phone retailer with over 800 stores will also have live Mi Zone, where the customers can check out the devices and purchase them directly, instead of buying online or waiting for weekly flash sales.
Xiaomi will continue to sell all products on Flipkart via both flash sale and open sale. The company has also recently started selling accessories from their own official website in India.
