Xiaomi MIUI 7 global launch premiere has been scheduled for August 19 in New Delhi, India. However, as mentioned before the first look of MIUI 7 will be out on August 13 at an event in China.
Hugo Barra will walk us through MIUI 7 in New Delhi on August 19. New features will be announced, specially for the global MIUI fans. The company has cleared the confusion regarding two launch events of basically the same MIUI. According to a blog post, “MIUI 7 China ROM will be introduced in China on August 13, and MIUI 7 Global ROM with tailored features for global fans will be unveiled on August 19 in India.” Interested fans and technology lovers can apply to catch the Xiaomi MIUI 7 global launch premiere live.
India has been the most important place for Xiaomi outside their home territory. Thus, holding a global event in New Delhi makes sense, specially when the company has already launched the Xiaomi Mi 4i at a global event in India already. Xiaomi has launched the Redmi 2 Prime in India today, which bears the ‘Made in India’ logo and has partnered with Redington to sell offline.
The Xiaomi MIUI 7 is now expected to be built on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It is interesting to see the timing as Android M is all set to launch in a couple of months and users will be demanding Xiaomi to update MIUI 7, to be based on the latest Android iteration. However, the company will again lag behind, since it takes a lot of time to heavily customize and optimize the UI, accordingly. The MIUI 7 will undoubtedly come with several new features, including a more flat and colourful user interface, in order to make the user experience better.
After launch, as usual it will not be available for download straight away. The beta version will be released for the Xiaomi devices around one week later. We will have more information in the coming weeks when the company teases us with some tidbits.
We might also see the launch of Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 at the event in China on August 13 but will it launched in India on August 19, remains to be seen.
