Xiaomi Mi Max gets over 8 million registrations for first pilot sale

Xiaomi Mi Max phablet with a massive 6.44-inch display was recently announced in China and will go on pilot flash sale on May 17. The company has reported that it has received over 8 million registrations for the first sale. It was revealed by Xiaomi in a post on Weibo.

The point to be noted is that only the 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM + Snapdragon 650 SoC variant will go on sale on May 17 and only 100,000 units will be up for grab. It can also be pre-ordered globally (including USA) now from Gearbest.

The Xiaomi Mi Max features a 6.44-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD IPS 2.5D curved display. The phablet comes with sunlight display technology which improves screen readability using hardware-level technology to adjust contrast for each pixel in real-time. It is powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 650 / octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 64-bit processor along with Adreno 510 GPU. It packs in 3 GB of RAM along with 32 / 64 GB of internal storage or 4 GB of RAM with 128 GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded via microSD card. The device runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

The Mi Max rocks a 16 megapixel rear camera with dual-tone LED flash, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF) and f/2.0 aperture. It can shoot 1080p Full HD videos and 120fps slow-motion videos. It comes with a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. The front shooter can also capture Full HD 1080p videos. It supports Hybrid dual SIM (micro + nano / microSD card) with dual standby mode. It has a fingerprint sensor below the primary camera that unlocks in 0.3 seconds and comes with Trustonic TEE chip-level security. It has a full metal unibody design that is just 7.5 mm thick and weighs just 203 grams. It also has an Infrared sensor.

On the connectivity front, the Mi Max comes with 4G LTE with VoLTE support, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.2 LE with A2DP, GPS, GLONASS and USB OTG. The phablet packs in a whopping 4,850 mAh non-removable Li-ion battery under the hood.
