Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus with dual 13MP rear cameras, 6GB RAM, Snapdragon 821 SoC launched

Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus, a flagship phablet with a massive 5.7-inch display has been launched at an event in China on September 27, along with the smaller Mi 5S. Lets go through its specifications and features below.

Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus Specifications

The Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus features a 5.7-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD 2.5D curved glass IPS display. It has a pixel density of 386 PPI and a screen-to-body ratio of 74.6%. The panel has a brightness of 550 nits, comes with a NTSC color gamut of 94% and contrast ratio of 1300:1. It is powered by a 2.35 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 (MSM8996) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. It packs in 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM along with 64 GB of internal storage (UFS 2.0) or 6 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 128 GB of ROM (UFS 2.0), but the storage cannot be further expanded since it does not have a microSD card slot. The device runs on MIUI 8 based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS.

The Mi 5S Plus rock a dual 13 megapixel rear cameras with dual-tone LED flash, Sony IMX258 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). It can shoot 4K videos and 120 fps slow motion videos (720p). The second lens captures in black and white (monochromatic), similar to the Huawei P9 and also has Dual image processor that will process the image captured using two sensors for the best quality shot. It comes with a 4 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.0 aperture and 80-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calling that can also record Full HD 1080p videos. It support Dual SIM (nano), comes with a fingerprint sensor located at the back, also has a 3.5 mm audio jack and Infrared sensor. The Mi 5S Plus has a full metal unibody design that is 7.95 mm thick and weighs 168 grams.

On the connectivity front, the Mi 5S Plus includes 4G with VoLTE support, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band) MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou, NFC, USB Type-C and USB OTG. The phablet packs in a 3,800 mAh built-in non-removable battery under the hood that supports Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0.

Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus launched in China

The Xiaomi Mi 5S Plus is available in Silver, Rose Gold, Dark Grey and Gold color variants. It has been priced at CNY 2299 (US $347 / INR Rs 23,068 approximately) for the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM model and the 6GB RAM + 128GB ROM variant costs CNY 2599 (US $392 / INR Rs 26,078 approximately) in China. It is already on sale in the country starting from September 29, but there is no information about the global roll out yet.
