Xiaomi Mi 5 is in the news for a long, long time. The upcoming flagship smartphone is finally launching in February 2016, according to one of the co-founders of Xiaomi.
Liwan Jiang, Co-Founder and VP of Xiaomi posted on Weibo to confirm that the Mi 5 will be launching in February after the Chinese New Year that will take place on February 8. He has also stated that the flagship smartphone will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 and it has entered mass production as well. Hence, there will not be any shortage of stock after the launch of the smartphone.
Xiaomi Gemini aka Mi 5 Rumoured Specifications
The Xiaomi Mi 5 will feature a 5.2-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) QHD LCD display with 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It will rock a 16 megapixel rear primary camera with dual-tone LED flash and a 8 or 13 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It will be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (MSM8996) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. It will come with 3 / 4 GB of RAM along with 32 / 64 GB of internal storage. The device will run on MIUI 7 out of the box based on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow.
The upcoming Xiaomi Gemini aka the Mi 5 has scored 2140 on Single Core and 4762 on multi-core. It will likely pack in a 3,030 mAh battery under the hood with Quick Charge support. There are no concrete information but we have heard in the past that Mi 5 will sport a microUSB Type-C port as well. It will also come with a fingerprint scanner embedded on the home button.
According to the latest reports, the Xiaomi Mi 5 3GB RAM + 32GB ROM variant will be priced at CNY 1999 (US $303 / INR Rs 20,194 approximately) and the 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM variant will cost CNY 2299 (US $349 / INR Rs 23,200 approximately).
