As the Mi 3 went on sale on July 22 in India via Flipkart.com, Xiaomi’s latest flagship the Mi 4 was unveiled in Beijing, China. The event started with the CEO Lei Jun taking the stage and sharing Xiaomi’s performance so far in 2014.
Xiaomi has sold 26.11 million phones so far in H1 2014 which is an increase of 271% from H1 2013. They also made a total revenue of RMB 33 Billion, an increase of 149% from previous year.
Then the Xiaomi Mi 4 was unveiled infront of the world which had an uncanny similarity like Steve Jobs’ unveiling of the iPhones. After all they are the “Apple of China”. The Mi 4 has a stainless steel frame wrapped around the body with chamfered edges. It has a 5 inch 1080p display similar to the Mi 3 with very high colour gamut (84% of NTSC range). The Mi 4 boasts of a Snapdragon 801 chipset with 3GB of RAM. It comes with a 16GB and 64Gb Flash storage option. It houses a huge 3080 mAh battery which also has quick charging capabilities. The back panel is swappable unlike the Mi 3. It has UMTS & TDD-LTE support as of now, model with international LTE bands coming soon.
On the camera front, the Mi 4 has a 13 megapixel rear shooter with f1.8 sensor size which is a Sony (IMX214) lens. It also has the capability to record 4K vidoes. For selfies, it has a 8 megapixel camera with f1.8 sensor size and 80 degree wide angle lens (Sony IMX219), which will result in better selfies and group selfies, off course.
The Mi 4 is now only available in China for around $320 for the 16 GB variant & $400 for the 64 GB variant. Hugo Barra has hinted that their latest flagship phone will launch in India around December which will have the TD-LTE 4G band required to access the 4G networks in India.
We are very excited to see the phone in action when it launches in India and it will surely be sold on Flipkart via the same flash sale model as it is in case of the Xiaomi Mi 3.
