Xiaomi is the No. 1 smartphone manufacturer in China and No. 3 in the world. The five-year old company has managed to achieved that feat with its well-known budget smartphones. Xiaomi is looking to take it to the next level by entering the lowest segment in the smartphone market.
Xiaomi has recently launched its most budget smartphone, i.e. the Redmi 2 in China, also made its way to India and will go on its first flash sale on March 24. It is the successor of Redmi 1s which was one of the best budget smartphone last year. The company is stepping up its game with yet another affordable smartphone which will cost around US $65 or slightly more than that.
As for the rumoured specifications, it will feature a 4.7-inch (1280 x 710 pixels) HD display similar to the Redmi 2. The smartphone will be powered by a Leadcore LC1860C chipset from Leadcore Technology, that is a major Chinese manufacturer of application processors. It will have 1GB of RAM, 8 GB of internal storage and come with 8 megapixel rear and 2 megapixel front-facing cameras. It is expected to run on Android 4.4 KitKat OS.
Xiaomi wants to price the smartphone at CNY 399 which comes to US $65 approximately. However, it is quite impossible to churn out a good budget smartphone at such price. So we can expect it to be priced in between US $65 and US $100. The phone is expected to launch later this year.
