Xiaomi announces Mi Water Purifier and its the smartest in the world

Xiaomi is well-known for making products other than smartphones which form the SmartHome or takes up the IoT space. Today, the company has announced the smartest water purifier in the world – the Mi Water Purifier.

Xiaomi Mi Water Purifier

Xiaomi announced the Mi Air Purifier at the end of last year in December to clean up the air in your home and now the company wants to make the water pure as well. The Mi Water Purifier uses Reverse Osmosis (RO) process to purify the supplied water and gives out 400 gallons of water per day. It can change tap water into drinking water with a total dissolved solids (TDS) value of less than 100, according to Xiaomi.

The Water Purifier measures just 205 x 260 x 410 mm, which makes it very compact. It comes with 4 filters – PP Cotton filter with 5 micron filter accuracy, activated coconut carbon filter to reduce discolouration, oder, chlorine taste and volatile organic compounds (VoCs). Also, a RO membrane for 0.0001 micron filter accuracy and post-filter activated coconut carbon filter to improve the taste of water. The Water Purifier churns out 1.0L per minute water flow and 1:1 high water production rate.

It becomes the smartest water purifier in the world because it has built-in WiFi support which will let you check real-time water quality via the Android or iOS app. It will also remind the owner to change the filter when it needs a replacement. The filters can be directly purchased via the app itself, however only in China now.

The Xiaomi Mi Water Purifier has been priced at CNY 1299 (US $209 / INR Rs 13,250 approximately). It goes on sale in China from July 28, 2015 but it will not be sold globally anytime soon.

Xiaomi also announced the 48-inch Mi TV 2s 4K Smart TV, which is priced at CNY 2999 (US $483 / INR Rs 30,600 approximately) and CNY 3999 (US $644 / INR Rs 40,850 approximately) for the Theatre Edition. It also goes on sale from July 28 in China.
