One of the most used Android Custom ROMs in the world is made by none other than Xiaomi. The next iteration, MIUI 7 will be announced at an event in China on August 13.
Xiaomi is all set to announce MIUI 7 on August 13 at an event at the National Convention Center, Beijing in China. The previous iteration, MIUI 6 was announced at a similar time last year. It had brought the users a flat interface, much inspired by iOS, along with new features. It was based on Android KitKat but however the latest version of the custom ROM on Xiaomi Mi 4i is based on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop.
The Xiaomi MIUI 7 is now expected to be built on top of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It is interesting to see the timing as Android M is all set to launch in a couple of months and users will be demanding Xiaomi to update MIUI 7, to be based on the latest Android iteration. However, the company will again lag behind, since it takes a lot of time to heavily customize and optimize the UI, accordingly. The MIUI 7 will undoubtedly come with several new features, including a more flat and colourful user interface, in order to make the user experience better.
After launch, as usual it will not be available for download straight away. The beta version will be released for the Xiaomi devices around one week later. We will have more information in the coming weeks when the company teases us with some tidbits.
We might also see the announcement of the next flagship devices from Xiaomi – the Mi 5 and the Mi 5 Plus.
