WhatsApp Web client comes to Firefox and Opera browsers

WhatsApp Web client which was announced back in January has now expanded to Mozilla Firefox and Opera browser. WhatsApp tweeted the announcement on their social media.

WhatsApp Web client can now be access on Mozilla Firefox and Opera browsers on your desktop or laptop. It was earlier limited to Google Chrome only. It is still not available for iOS devices.

To recap, WhatsApp Web is just a web client via the web browser which is an extension of your phone. The web browser will mirror your conversations and messages from your mobile device. This also means, you need to be online on WhatsApp from your mobile as well, in order to access WhatsApp Web.

In order to start WhatsApp Web, open your web browser (Chrome, Firefox and Opera) and open this link. There will be a QR code on the website, scan the code inside of WhatsApp and you’re ready to use it on the web. This completes the pairing of WhatsApp Web with the WhatsApp on your phone. Also, as we already said, you need to be connected to the internet on your phone in order for the web client to work.

WhatsApp Web will only work on the latest version of WhatsApp on your Android, Windows, BlackBerry, BlackBerry 10 and Nokia S60 mobile platforms. As it is a phased roll out, you may not be able to access it even after downloading the latest version of WhatsApp. So keep calm as it will show up any moment. WhatsApp Web won’t work for iOS users due to “Apple’s platform limitations” and that’s a bummer.

The long rumoured voice calling has started appearing for some Android users. Recently, a beta testing window was opened which got shut down within a day. WhatsApp voice calling is expected to roll out soon for everyone.
