vivo Xplay5 with Quad HD display, Snapdragon 652 chipset goes official

vivo has officially launched two new flagship smartphones at an event in China today. They are the vivo Xplay5 Elite and vivo Xplay5. The Xplay5 Elite now becomes the first smartphone or phablet in the world to pack 6 GB of RAM. Lets check out the specifications of the other device here.


vivo Xplay5 Specifications

The vivo Xplay5 features a 5.43-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD Super AMOLED dual curved edge display with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 protection. It is powered by an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 64-bit processor along with Adreno 510 GPU. It has 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and comes with 128 GB of internal memory which cannot be expanded via microSD card. The device runs on Funtouch OS based on Android 6.0 Marshmallow. It has a full metal body and comes with a 360-degree fingerprint sensor at the back that unlocks the phone in under 0.4 seconds.

The Xplay5 comes with a 16 megapixel rear primary camera with dual-tone LED flash, f/2.0 aperture, Sony IMX298 sensor and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). On the front, it has a 8 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.4 aperture for selfies and video calling. It is 7.59 mm thick, weighs 167.8 grams and supports Dual SIM. The flagship smartphone comes with CS4398 DAC amplifier and AD8397 for an enhanced audio experience.

The Xplay5 includes 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 3,600 mAh battery under the hood along with double charging chip that supports fast charging.


The vivo Xplay5 is available in Champagne Gold and Rose Gold color variants and has been priced at CNY 3698 (US $565 / INR Rs 38,190 approximately). It can be ordered in China starting from March 8 and will start shipping from March 16, 2016. The company has also announced the vivo Xplay5 Elite super flagship smartphone today and it is has been priced at CNY 4288 (US $655 / INR Rs 44,279 approximately).
