UMI Fair : A $99 smartphone with fingerprint sensor launched

UMI Fair, a $99 smartphone that houses a fingerprint sensor has been launched in China, as expected, but will be selling globally. Lets take a look at the specifications and features of the most affordable smartphone that comes with a fingerprint sensor.



UMI Fair Specifications

The UMI Fair features a 5-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS display that is powered by a 1.0 GHz quad-core MediaTek MT6735 64-bit processor with Mali-T720 MP2 GPU. It comes with 1 GB of RAM and has 8 GB of internal memory that can be expandable up to 64 GB via microSD card. It runs on Android 5.1 Lollipop out of the box.

The smartphone comes with a 13 megapixel rear primary camera with dual LED flash and Sony IMX164 sensor with f/2.2 aperture. On the front, there is a 2 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture and 1.12 µm pixel size for selfies and video calling. It has a fingerprint sensor at the back that has self-learning algorithm which can store up to five fingerprints and will unlock the phone in just 0.32 seconds with over 99% accuracy, according to the company. It comes with a metal frame and smooth polycarbonate back. The body is 8.4 mm thick and weighs 120 grams.

The UMI Fair comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS and connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 2,000 mAh battery under the hood.


UMI Fair is available in Black and White color variants and has been priced at US $99 (INR Rs 6,500 approximately). It will go on sale from various online retailers globally.
