Coolpad entered India by launching the Dazen 1 back in May, which went on its first flash sale on June 9. It was initially priced at Rs 6,999 but the company decided to shave off Rs 1,000 and make it Rs 5,999 to make the competition intense. Thus, we take a look at the Top 3 reasons to buy Coolpad Dazen 1.

We reviewed the Coolpad Dazen 1 when it was priced at Rs 6,999. Thus, we felt like taking a look at the Indian budget smartphone again and list the Top 5 reasons to buy Coolpad Dazen 1.

Top 5 reasons to buy Coolpad Dazen 1

The Coolpad Dazen 1 houses a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 (MSM8916) processor. It is the latest gen 64-bit chipset and comes with Adreno 306 GPU. Coupled with the chipset, we have 2 GB of RAM, which takes care of the day-to-day performance. The smartphone does not lag or drop frame rates during normal usage. It also does not heat as well which is always a good thing. Overall, the performance is smooth, thanks to the 2GB RAM and the tried and tested Snapdragon 410. It indeed does not ‘heat’ like the other players in this space. The Dazen 1 has a 5-inch display with a resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels. It boasts of 178-degree viewing angle and 16-million colour depth. It is a good display but not the brightest and colours are on the softer side.

It comes with 4G LTE (Band 3 and 40) on board and also has Dual SIM capability which is great for this price point. With the telecom players starting to open up 4G LTE networks in India, it is the perfect time to buy 4G LTE enabled smartphones. On the other hand, we also get the WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS as well.

Software and Battery Life

Coolpad brings Cool UI to the Dazen 1, the in-house custom UI built on top of Android 4.4 KitKat. The Cool UI 6.0 needs a bit of refinement and we believe it will get there in time. It looks a lot like the MIUI but has an option of enabling app drawer. Users not so familiar with iOS style UI can switch that on and will not face any issues. This is a welcome change in Cool UI. It has a lot of gestures as well and an in-built Themes app.

It rocks a 2,500 mAh battery under the hood which easily lasts for a day on moderate usage. Usually, we got 4 hours+ of Screen on time (SOT) with mixture of multimedia content, surfing and gaming. The phone takes around an hour and half to fully charge from 0-100.
