Tag Heuer Connected titanium smartwatch running on Android Wear launched for USD 1500

Tag Heuer, a luxury watch manufacturer has entered the smartwatch league in order to compete with the likes of Apple and other technology companies. Tag Heuer Connected is the first Android Wear smartwatch from the luxury watch maker that comes with a titanium case.


Tag Heuer Connected Specifications and Features

The Tag Heuer Connected smartwatch is heavily inspired from the TAG Heuer Carrera watch. It sports a round dial that comes with custom digital watch faces including class TAG Heuer dials. It has a 1.5-inch fully circular transreflective LTPS LCD display made up of scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, that has a resolution of 360 x 360 pixels and a pixel density of 240 ppi. The display supports multiple finger recognition. It is powered by a 1.6 GHz dual-core Intel processor (500 MHz normal operating speed) that comes with 1 GB of RAM and 4 GB of internal storage. It runs on Android Wear and is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 or above and iOS 8 or above.

The Tag Heuer Connected smartwatch comes with sandblasted, carbide-coated titanium bezel with anti-fingerprint coating. It also has a titanium single push-button with black, carbide-coated line fine-brushed along with a raised TAG Heuer shield. It can be personalized with six different rubber straps.


On the connectivity front, it includes WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 LE and comes with gyroscope, tilt detection sensor, microphone and haptic engine. It is IP67 certified that makes it water-resistant. The dial of the watch is 46 mm in diameter, 12.8 mm thick and weighs 52 grams. It has a vulcanized rubber strap with grade 2 titanium folding clasp and safety push-buttons that weighs 29 grams. It packs in a 410 mAh battery that promises up to 25 hours of battery life with typical usage.

The Tag Heuer Connected comes with a standard black rubber strap but is also available in six different colors – red, green, blue, orange, yellow and white. It has been priced at US $1500 (INR Rs 99,135 approximately) and is currently available for purchase. The company will provide a 2-year warranty on the smartwatch and after two years the company will transform it into a regular mechanical watch, if you decide to trade it.
