Sony Xperia Z5 compact announced at IFA 2015

Sony Xperia Z5 compact has been officially announced at IFA 2015 today. It is a smaller variant of the latest flagship device from the company. Lets check out the specifications of the phone.


Sony Xperia Z5 compact Specifications

The Sony Xperia Z5 compact features a 4.6-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD Triluminos display with X-Reality for Mobiles. It is powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 64-bit processor along with Adreno 430 GPU. It has 2 GB of RAM and comes with 32 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 200 GB via microSD card. The device runs on the latest Android 5.1 Lollipop OS with Xperia launcher on top. It has frosted glass on the back and the Xperia logo has been engraved on the side.

The Xperia Z5 compact comes with a 23 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1/2.3″ Sony Exmor RS image sensor, Sony G lens, Hybrid AF speed of 0.03 second, 5x clear image zoom without loss of quality. It can also shoot 4K videos. On the front, there is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with Exmor R sensor and 25 mm wide-angle lens for selfies and video calling. The smartphone is 8.9 mm thick and weighs 138 grams. The device supports Sony DSEE HX audio technology and has LDAC codec, comes with 3.5 mm audio jack and FM Radio with RDS. It also comes with a fingerprint sensor (engraved into the home button) and is IPX5 / IPX8 certified for dust and water resistance with hapless USB.

The Xperia Z5 compact comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual band) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC, MHL 3.0 and GPS / GLONASS as connectivity options. It rocks a 2,700 mAh battery under the hood with STAMINA mode. It supports Dual SIM but that is region dependent.

The Sony Xperia Z5 compact is available in White, Yellow, Coral and Graphite Black colour variants and will be rolling out globally in October. The pricing has not been announced yet. The company has also announced the Xperia Z5 today.
