Sony Xperia Z3 Compact announced at IFA 2014

Sony announced its latest flagship, the Xperia Z3 today at IFA in Berlin. Simultaneously, it has also unveiled the Xperia Z3 Compact which is the mini version of the Z3. Lets see what it has in store for us.


The Xperia Z3 Compact features a 4.6-inch HD (1280 x 720 pixels) Triluminous Display with X-Reality engine. It is powered by a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 quad-core processor which comes with 2 GB of RAM. It has 16 GB of internal memory which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card. The phone has dual stereo front-facing speakers.

On the camera front, it has a 20.7 megapixel rear camera with Exmos RS sensor which can shoot HDR photos and videos as well. It also records 4K video like its elder brother, the Xperia Z3. It comes with a 2.2 megapixel camera on the front for selfies which are also capable of 1080p video recording.


The phone is just 8.6 mm in thickness and weighs only 129 grams, which is much lighter than the Xperia Z1 Compact. It has IP65/68 rating as its predecessor which makes it dust and water-resistant. Xperia Z3 Compact has PS4 Remote Play, which is similar to the Z3 that lets you use the phone as a remote screen to connect to and control your games on PS4. It has 2,600 mAh battery with STAMINA mode.

It has standard WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, Bluetooth 4.0 with APT-X, GPS/GLONASS, MHL, NFC as well as comes with 4G LTE and 3G/HSPA+ connectivity. The Sony Xperia Z3 Compact will come in white, black, orange and green colour variants and will be available globally by the holiday season. No official pricing has been announced yet.
