Sony Xperia XZ with Snapdragon 820, 23MP camera goes official

Sony Xperia XZ, the latest flagship smartphone has been announced at the IFA 2016 in Berlin, along with their new compact smartphone – the Sony Xperia X Compact. It comes with a dedicated camera shutter button. Lets go through the rest of the specifications below.

The Sony Xperia XZ features a 5.2-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Triluminos display, that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 64-bit 14nm processor along with Adreno 530 GPU. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes with 32 / 64 GB of internal memory, which can also be expanded further up to 256 GB via microSD card. The device runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow OS with Xperia launcher on top of it.

The Xperia XZ comes with a 23 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, 1/2.3″ Sony Exmor RS sensor, Predictive Hybrid AF speed of 0.03 second, f/2.0 aperture, 5-axis stabilization. It can record 4K videos. On the front, there is a 13 megapixel front-facing camera with 1/3″ Exmor RS sensor, 22 mm wide-angle lens, f/2.0 aperture for selfies and video calling. It can shoot Full HD 1080p videos. The smartphone is 8.1 mm thick and weighs 161 grams. The device supports Sony DSEE HX audio technology and has LDAC codec, comes with 3.5 mm audio jack and FM Radio with RDS. It also offers Digital Noise Cancelling and supports Dual SIM (nano), which is only available in the 64GB ROM variant and will be sold in select regions. It comes with a fingerprint sensor embedded into its power button and it is also water-resistant since it is IP65/IP68 certified.

The Xperia XZ comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual band) MIMO, Bluetooth 4.2, NFC, USB Type-C and GPS / GLONASS as connectivity options. It rocks a 2,900 mAh battery under the hood with STAMINA mode and supports Qnovo’s Adaptive Charging technology.

The Sony Xperia XZ is available in Mineral Black, Platinum and Forest Blue color variants. It will start rolling out globally from October 2016 in both single and dual SIM variants. However, the company has not revealed the pricing yet but its expected to be announced closer to the actual launch.
