Sony Xperia M5 smartphone has been officially announced. It is the company’s latest device in the M series which is also waterproof. Lets take a look at the specifications.

The Sony Xperia M5 features a 5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display which comes with Mobile BRAVIA Engine 2. It is powered by 2.2 GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio (MT6795T) 64-bit processor along with PowerVR G6200 GPU. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes with 16 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 200 GB via microSD card. The device runs on the latest Android 5.0 Lollipop OS with Xperia launcher on top. It has a OmniBalance design with glass finish on both sides.
The Xperia M5 comes with a 21.5 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/2.2 aperture, IMX230 Exmor RS sensor and can also record 4K videos. It has Hybrid Autofocus mode which uses Phase detection AF for faster shutter speed response and Contrast detection AF for added precision to produce crisp and clear images. It has a 13 megapixel front-facing camera with Exmor RS sensor for selfies and video calling, can shoot Full HD 1080p videos. The smartphone is 7.6 mm thick and weighs 143 grams. The device has Dual SIM feature (only on M5 Dual) along with 3.5 mm audio jack and FM Radio with RDS. It is also IP65 and IP68 certified which makes it waterproof and dust proof, but the USB port does not have a cap.
The M5 comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and GPS as connectivity options. It rocks a 2,600 mAh battery under the hood with STAMINA mode.
The Sony Xperia M5 will be available in Black, White and Gold colour variants. It will go on sale in selected emerging markets by mid-August. The pricing has not been announced yet. It is a successor of the Xperia M4 Aqua.
