Sony Xperia J1 Compact announced in Japan

Sony Xperia J1 Compact (D5788) has been announced by Sony. It is the first SIM-free Xperia smartphone in Japan and will go on sale on April 20 via NTT Docomo. Lets have a look at the specifications of Xperia J1 Compact.


Sony Xperia J1 Compact Specifications

The Sony Xperia J1 Compact features a 4.3-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD display which is powered by 2.2 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 800 processor along with Adreno 330 GPU. It has 2 GB of RAM and comes with 16 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded via microSD card. The device runs on Android 4.4 KitKat OS and hopefully will get updated to Android 5.0 Lollipop OS soon.

The Xperia J1 Compact comes with a 20.7 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, Exmor RS sensor and can also record Full HD 1080p videos. It has a 2.2 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The smartphone is 9.7 mm thick and weighs 138 grams.

The Xperia J1 Compact comes with 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, NFC and GPS as connectivity options. It rocks a 2,300 mAh battery under the hood. It is also IP58 certified which makes it dust and water-resistant.

The Sony Xperia J1 Compact will be available on NTT Docomo from April 20. Pre-orders will be taken from March 27. The smartphone has been priced at JPY 59,184 (US $500 / INR Rs 30,000 approximately). There is no information on when it will be available throughout the retail markets in Japan.

Sony has recently announced the Xperia M4 Aqua and Xperia Z4 tablet at MWC 2015 in Barcelona.
