Silent Circle, who are popular for making the secured Blackphone had announced the Blackphone 2 at MWC earlier this year. The company has now launched the smartphone couple of days back. Lets dive into the specifications and features of the phablet.
Blackphone 2 Specifications
The Blackphone 2 features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by octa-core Snapdragon 615 (ARM Cortex A53 – Quad 1.7 GHz + Quad 1.0 GHz) 64-bit processor along with Adreno 405 GPU. It comes with 3 GB of RAM and has 32 GB of internal storage that can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. It runs on Silent OS which is based on Android Lollipop. Hopefully, it will be upgraded to Android 6.0 Marshmallow in the near future.
The phone comes with in-built Security Center that enables the consumer to easily manage their privacy and security settings in one place. It also has a remote wipe setting in case your phone is stolen or lost. The software packs in pre-loaded apps like Silent Phone – Silent Circle’s private communication app that offers encrypted, secure voice calls, conference calling, video conferencing, file transfers and secure texts. The phone has support for Android for Work and has seamless integration with Google’s suite of apps. It is also certified with existing MDM systems like MobileIron, Citrix, SOTI and Good.
The Blackphone 2 rocks a 13 megapixel rear primary camera with dual LED flash. On the front, there is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. The phablet has 4G LTE (FDD LTE Band (2, 4, 7, 17) for North America and Band (1, 3, 5, 7, 8, 20) ; TDD B40 for UK and other regions, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.0 and GPS + GLONASS as connectivity options. It packs in a 3,060 mAh non-removable built-in battery under the hood that supports Quick Charge 2.0 technology.
The Blackphone 2 has been priced at US $799 (INR Rs 52,355 approximately) and is now selling in North America.
