SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSDXC memory card announced at MWC 2015

SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSDXC UHS-I Premium Edition memory card was announced by SanDisk Corporation at MWC 2015 on March 2. It now becomes the world’s highest capacity microSD card surpassing the 128GB variant introduced last year. The company announced 512 GB Extreme Pro SD XC card recently.


SanDisk has announced the Ultra 200GB microSDXC memory card at MWC in Barcelona. The memory card uses the same proprietary technology that was used in the 128GB version. However, it uses a new design and production process which allows for more bits per die. Lets have a look at the specifications of the latest memory card in town.

SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSDXC UHS-I Memory Card

The SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSDXC has performance / speed up to 90 MBps. It comes with Easy view, access and backup of all files with SanDisk Memory Zone App. The card is water proof, temperature proof, shock proof, magnet proof and X-ray proof.

The SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSDXC UHS-I is compatible with microSDHC and microSDXC supporting devices. Its dimensions are 14.99 x 10.92 x 1.02 mm. It will also come with a ten-year limited warranty.

Only a handful of smartphones support expandable storage only up to 128GB, but some companies like LG has said their LG G3 will support up to 2TB, which is the maximum capacity a microSD can offer now. However, it can be used in DSLR or action cameras like Go Pro or the recently launched Yi Action Camera from Xiaomi.

The SanDisk Ultra 200GB microSDXC UHS-I Premium Edition memory card has been priced at US $399.99 (INR Rs 24,600 approximately) and will go on sale in second quarter of 2015 globally.
