Samsung launches Galaxy Tab Active rugged tablet in India for Rs 52000

Samsung announced the Galaxy Tab Active rugged tablet at IFA 2014 along with the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge. The company now announces that the tablet will be available in India for Rs 52,000. It is specially targeted at the Business segment. Panasonic launched a similar tablet called Toughpad FZ-B2 for Rs 75,000 recently.


Samsung announced three new 4G LTE enabled smartphones for India – Galaxy J1 4G, Galaxy Core Prime 4G and Galaxy Grand Prime 4G at the Samsung Forum in Bangkok. The company has also announced that the Galaxy Tab Active which was originally announced at IFA 2014 will make its way to India by March 2015. It will be available for a whopping Rs 52,000 and will be specifically targeted at the Business segment. Let us have a look at the specifications of the tablet.

Samsung Galaxy Tab Active Specifications


The Galaxy Tab Active features a 8-inch WXGA display (1280 x 800 pixels) and is powered by 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. It has 1.5 GB of RAM and comes with 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 64 GB via microSD card. It runs on Android 4.4 KitKat and hopefully will be updated to Android 5.0 KitKat.

The Galaxy Tab has a 3.1 megapixel AutoFocus rear primary camera with LED flash and 1.2 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calls. It weighs 393 grams and is 9.75 mm thick. The Galaxy Tab Active is Samsung’s first rugged Galaxy Tablet with anti-shock covering which can withstand a 1.2-meter drop, with its protective cover on. It is also water and dust resistant with IP67 certification.

On the connectivity options, the Galaxy Tab Active comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, Bluetooth 4.0, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n, GPS, GLONASS and NFC. It will only be available in Titanium Green and also comes with the Protective Cover and C-Pen. It packs in a 4,450 mAh battery under the hood which is user-replaceable.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Active will be available in India around March, 2015 for Rs 52,000.
