Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) has been officially launched in India at an event in Delhi today. The smartphone was announced in China in March this year. Lets check out the specifications and pricing of the device now.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) features a 5.2-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD Super AMOLED display that is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 410 64-bit processor with Adreno 306 GPU. It comes with 2 GB of RAM along with 16 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD card. The device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS out of the box with TouchWiz UI on top of it.
The S Bike mode that was introduced with the Galaxy J3 (2016), has made its way into this handset as well. It is a new mode for bikers that will let them activate pre-recorded message for all callers, motion lock feature to ensure that the rider stops before answering, urgent calls filter and more by just activating the mode by tapping on the NFC tag.
On the camera front, it rocks a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture. There is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with LED flash and 120-degree wide-angle lens for selfies and video calling. It is 8.1 mm thick and weighs 159 grams. The smartphone supports Dual SIM and comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack. It also has an Ultra data saving (UDS) mode, which is powered by Opera Max and it compresses cellular data across all contents.
On the connectivity front, the new Galaxy J5 comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and NFC. The smartphone packs a 3,100 mAh battery under the hood.
The Samsung Galaxy J5 (2016) is available in Black, White and Gold color variants for Rs 13,990 in India. It will go on sale exclusively on Flipkart from Midnight of May 10 (Tuesday). Airtel customers will get double data offer for 6 months, which will allow them to get up to 30 GB of free data.
Samsung has also launched the Galaxy J7 (2016) in India today for Rs 15,990. It will also go on sale exclusively on Flipkart at Midnight of May 10, 2016.
