Yesterday at the Galaxy Unpacked event at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York, Samsung announced the Galaxy Note 5 and the Galaxy S6 Edge+ along with launching Samsung Pay officially. The company also teased the upcoming Samsung Gear S2 smartwatch.
The teaser revealed that the upcoming Samsung Gear S2 will have a round display. We can see a metal casing, which can just be a placeholder as well. The smartwatch will be running on Samsung’s in-house Tizen-based wearable OS, similar to the first gen Gear S, which was launched last year.
The Gear S2 smartwatch will have an in-built SIM support for 3G and voice capabilities, just like the Gear S. It will have apps like Phone dialer, Message, S Voice, Nike+, S Health and more, according to the teaser shown. The company has also teased the heart rate sensor on the smartwatch.
The Samsung Gear S2 will be officially launched at IFA 2015 in Berlin on September 3. The Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ will go on sale from August 21 in USA and Canada. The pricing and US carrier plans have been revealed courtesy of pre-booking. The company also announced Keyboard covers for the two phablets which will cost US $80.
