Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 tablet launched in India for Rs 39400

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7-inch tablet has been officially launched in India today. It was announced back in July. Lets look out the specifications of Tab S2.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 features a 9.7-inch (2048 x 1536 pixels) 4:3 QXGA Super AMOLED display. The display offers 94% of Adobe RGB colour coverage for accurate colour output and is better than its predecessor, according to Samsung. The gamma, saturation and sharpness are automatically adjusted due to adaptive display based on the application being viewed.

It is powered by a octa-core Exynos 5433 (1.9 GHz + 1.3 GHz) processor with Mali T760 MP6 GPU. It comes with 3 GB of LPDDR3 RAM along with 32 / 64 GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128 GB via microSD slot. The device will run on Android 5.0 Lollipop OS out of the box with TouchWiz UI on top of it.

On the camera front, it rocks a 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2.1 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It is just 5.6 mm thick, weighs 389 grams for the WiFi-only model and 392 grams for LTE variant. It comes with a fingerprint scanner on the home button.

On the connectivity front, it Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (dual band) MIMO, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS and GLONASS. The tablet packs a 5,870 mAh battery under the hood.


The Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 9.7 is available in Black, Gold and White colour variants and has been priced at Rs 39,400 in India. The tablet comes pre-loaded with Galaxy gifts worth Rs 31,000 which includes access to premium apps from Entertainment, News, Productivity and more for a limited time only. The company has also mentioned at the launch event that it does not have any plans to sell the 8-inch Galaxy Tab S2 in India.
