Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ were officially unveiled last month at an event in New York. The latest flagship smartphones from the house of Samsung will be officially launched in India on April 19. Take a closer look at the features and specifications of the devices below.
Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ Specifications
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ feature a 5.8-inch and 6.2-inch (2960 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD+ Super AMOLED Infinity displays, respectively. These are always-on displays with Corning Gorilla Glass 5 protection on both front and back. The S8 and S8+ have a pixel density of 570 PPI and 529 PPI along with screen-to-body ratio of 83.6% and 84%, respectively. These are powered by the Exynos 8895 octa-core processor with Mali-G71 MP20 GPU or Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor with Adreno 540 GPU, depending on region. They come with 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM and 64GB of internal memory (UFS 2.1), which can also be expanded further up to 256GB by adding a microSD card. The devices run on TouchWiz UI based on Android 7.0 Nougat OS.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ feature a 12 megapixel Dual Pixel primary rear camera along with LED flash, f/1.7 aperture, OIS and 4K video recording with VDIS. It includes Pro, Panorama, Slow motion, Hyperlapse, Food mode, while the images can be saved as RAW files as well. On the front, there is a 8 megapixel secondary camera with f/1.7 aperture for clicking selfies and making video calls. The S8 and S8+ arrive in both Single and Dual SIM variants depending on region. The Indian variant will get a Hybrid Dual SIM (nano + nano / microSD card) option. These are also water and dust resistant (IP68 certified).
In the connectivity department, the S8 and S8+ include 4G VoLTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band) MU-MIMO, Bluetooth 5.0 LE, GPS, GLONASS, NFC, ANT+ USB Type-C. The S8 packs in a 3000mAh battery, while the S8+ comes with a 3500mAh battery. However, both of them support fast charging via both wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) charging. These phones also come with a lot of sensors including Accelerometer, Barometer, Fingerprint Sensor, Gyro Sensor, Geomagnetic Sensor, Hall Sensor, Heart Rate Sensor, Proximity Sensor, RGB Light Sensor, Iris Sensor and Pressure Sensor.
The Samsung Galaxy S8 and S8+ will be available in Midnight Black, Coral Blue and Maple Gold colors in India. The phones might go on sale from April 21 in India, which is also the global launch date. We do not know about the pricing of these mobiles yet but it might start at Rs. 55,000 for the Galaxy S8 and Rs. 65,000 for the Galaxy S8+. Stay tuned till launch for more information.
