Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition has been officially introduced today, in time for the Rio 2016 Olympic Games. Samsung has partnered with the Rio 2016 Olympics Games and has become the Worldwide Olympic Partner in the Wireless Communications Equipment category. The company will deliver 12,500 units of the Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition along with Gear IconX to all Rio 2016 Olympians.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition features an Olympic Games design with custom colorway pattern, which includes the five official colors of the Olympic Rings on the back.

The colors of the Olympic Rings will also be prominent in the phone’s user interface in the home and lock screens as well as the message, dial and contact screens and notification bar,” said Samsung. The smartphone also comes pre-loaded with Rio 2016 Olympic Games themed wallpapers.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Olympic Games Limited Edition smartphones will go on sale in United States, China, Brazil, Korea and Germany starting from July 18, 2016. Recently, Samsung Galaxy S7 edge Injustice Edition was also announced.

The company has opened three Galaxy Studios in the Olympic Park and several studios in Rio, Sao Paulo, and local cities in Brazil that will let fans enjoy variety of activities, including enhanced virtual reality experiences of various Olympic sports. An app named Rio 2016 has also been created for Android, iOS and Windows Phone devices in collaboration with the Rio 2016 Organising Committee, that will offer all the details about the games.

The Samsung Galaxy S7 edge features a 5.5-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD Super AMOLED always-on curved edge display that comes with a pixel density of 534 PPI. It is powered by an octa-core Exynos 8 8890 (Quad 2.3 GHz + Quad 1.6 GHz) 64-bit processor. It comes with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and has 32 / 64 GB of internal memory which can be expanded up to 200 GB via microSD card. It runs on the latest Android 6.0 Marshmallow with TouchWiz UI on top of it. It has a 3D glass and metal design and features internal cooling system that will keep the device from overheating. Hopefully, no more ‘heating issues’ for Galaxy S7 edge then.

One the camera front, the Galaxy S7 edge rocks a 12 megapixel rear camera with LED flash, f/1.7 aperture and Smart OIS. The Dual pixel rear camera is promising brighter and sharper images, even in low light. It comes with a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with f/1.7 aperture for selfies and video calling. The smartphone is 7.7 mm thick and weighs 157 grams. It comes with a heart rate sensor, fingerprint sensor and Barometer as well. It is also water and dust resistant since it is IP68 certified. It supports Hybrid Dual SIM (nano) where the user can swap the second SIM card to put in a microSD card.

The Galaxy S7 edge comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.2 LE, GPS with GLONASS, USB 2.0 and NFC as connectivity options. The smartphone packs in a 3,600 mAh battery under the hood that supports both wired and wireless (WPC and PMA) fast charging.
