Samsung Galaxy S6 with Exynos 7420 SoC announced at MWC

Samsung Galaxy S6 and the curved variant the Galaxy S6 Edge were slotted to be announced at the event “Galaxy Unpacked 2015“. Finally, Samsung has officially announced the Galaxy S6 at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.



In the run up to the event, we had seen several leaks of the Galaxy S6 and Galaxy S6 Edge along with pricing information, global launch dateIndian launch dateupgraded camera and what not. It will supposedly be the most powerful device from Samsung yet and will look similar to the iPhone 6. Lets finally take a look at the official specifications.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy S6 features a 5.1-inch (2,560 x 1440 pixels) QHD Super AMOLED display with a pixel density of 577 ppi, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered 2.1 GHz octa-core Exynos 7420 processor which will set records on benchmarks. It comes with 3 GB of RAM and has 32/64/128 GB of internal memory which cannot be expanded. It runs on Android 5.0.2 Lollipop OS. Samsung Pay with payment solution comes with the device after the company acquired LoopPay. It comes with fingerprint sensor similar to Apple’s TouchID and heart rate monitor.


One the camera front, the Samsung Galaxy S6 rocks a 16 megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. Users can click pictures with ‘Pro’ mode which has the capability to shoot images in RAW format and can also control shutter speed. Samsung has also worked with their gallery app and they have made it more user friendly.

The Galaxy S6 comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac, WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.1, A-GPS, GLONASS, microUSB 2.0, infrared and NFC as connectivity options. The smartphone is powered by a 2,550 mAh non-replaceable battery under the hood with fast charging. It also comes with new wireless charging. The device is 6.8 mm thick and weighs only 138 grams.

The Samsung Galaxy S6 is available in white pearl, black sapphire, gold platinum and blue topaz colour variants. There is no information on the pricing but it will go on sale globally starting April 10, 2015.
