Samsung Galaxy Note5 officially launched in India, price starts at Rs 53900

Samsung India has officially launched the Samsung Galaxy Note5 in India today, as expected. It was officially launched at the Galaxy Unpacked event at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York on August 13. It is also Samsung’s first smartphone to follow the “Make in India” policy.


The Samsung Galaxy Note5 is available in Black Sapphire, Gold Platinum and Silver Titanium color variants and has been priced Rs 53,900 for the 32GB memory variant, whereas the 64GB variant will set you back by Rs 59,900. The device goes on sale from September 20, 2015 in India, however, it can be pre-ordered starting today. Consumers pre-ordering the device between today and September 20 will get a free wireless charger, one year free screen replacement guarantee and an option to get it with 24 EMIs (monthly instalments). The company also launched the Galaxy S6 Edge+ in India recently.

Samsung Galaxy Note5 Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Note5 features a 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD Super AMOLED display, with a pixel density of 518 ppi, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by octa-core Exynos 7420 (Quad 2.1 GHz + Quad 1.5 GHz) 64-bit processor. It comes with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and has 32 / 64 GB of internal storage, which cannot be expanded via microSD card. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box with TouchWiz on top of it. Samsung Pay goes out of beta and will start functioning from August 20. It comes with the new S Pen stylus with click mechanism. It has KNOX Active Protection and My KNOX app to protect sensitive data (personal and work).

One the camera front, the Galaxy Note5 rocks a 16 megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash along with f/1.9 aperture and Optical Image Stabilisation. The rear camera It has a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. Users can click pictures with ‘Pro’ mode which has the capability to shoot images in RAW format and can also control shutter speed. It is 7.6 mm thick and weighs 171 grams. It has heart rate sensor on the back and fingerprint scanner on the home button.

The Samsung Galaxy Note5 comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2 LE & apt-X, GPS, GLONASS and NFC as connectivity options. The phablet is powered by a 3,000 mAh non-replaceable battery under the hood with fast charging, which charges it completely in 90 minutes. It also comes with new fast wireless charging which charges it completely in 120 minutes.
