Samsung Galaxy Note Edge launched in India priced at Rs 64,900

Samsung Galaxy Note Edge was announced at IFA 2014 along with the Galaxy Note 4 in September. The phablet has now been officially launched in India, priced at Rs 64,900. Although, it will go on sale in the first week of January.


The Galaxy Note Edge has a 5.6-inch QHD (2560 x 1440 piexels) Super AMOLED display which bends on the right side utilising 160 pixels. It will give us access to frequently used apps, alerts and device functionality even when the cover is closed with the swipe of a thumb. The phablet just weighs 174 grams and is 8.3 mm thick.

Galaxy Note Edge is powered by a 2.7 GHz quad-core Snapdragon 805 processor with Adreno 420 GPU and a whopping 3 GB of RAM. It runs on Android 4.4 Kitkat with Samsung’s new TouchWiz running on top of it. It has the same fingerprint scanner as of the Galaxy S5 but with added functionality. Samsung has also redesigned the S Pen stylus that offers better grip now. The softwares which utilises the S Pen – S Note, Multi Window has been updated with new features too. It has also drafted in the Heart-rate sensor which was introduced in the Galaxy S5. It will come with 32 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 64 GB via microSD card. It also has IR Blaster for smart TV remotes.


The Galaxy Note Edge comes with a 16 megapixel Sony IMX240 camera sensor with optical image stabilization and LED flash. It is capable of capturing 4K UHD videos at 30 fps. On the front, it now has a 3.7 megapixel sensor which has f/1.9 aperure and a 120 degree wide angle lens.

The Note Edge includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b.b/n/ac (HT80) MIMO PCIe, dualband, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.1 LE/ANT+, GPS with GLONASS/Beidou and 4G LTE-A Cat.6 support as well as 3G HSPA+ up to 42 Mbps. It will come with a 3,000 mAh battery with Ultra Power Saving Mode, comapared to the 3,200 mAh battery on the Note 4.

The Samsung Galaxy Note Edge will be available in Charcoal Black and Frost White colour variants and has been priced at Rs 64,900. It will go on sale in the first week of January via select retailers.
