Samsung Galaxy Note 5 now official

Samsung Galaxy Note 5 has been officially launched, as expected, along with the Galaxy S6 Edge+ at the Galaxy Unpacked event at Alice Tully Hall, Lincoln Center in New York. Lets check out the specifications of the latest phablet from Samsung.


Samsung Galaxy Note 5 Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 features a 5.7-inch (2560 x 1440 pixels) Quad HD Super AMOLED display, with a pixel density of 518 ppi, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by octa-core Exynos 7420 (Quad 2.1 GHz + Quad 1.5 GHz) 64-bit processor. It comes with 4 GB of LPDDR4 RAM and has 32 / 64 GB of internal storage, which cannot be expanded via microSD card. It runs on Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box with TouchWiz on top of it. Samsung Pay goes out of beta and will start functioning from August 20. It comes with the new S Pen stylus with click mechanism. It has KNOX Active Protection and My KNOX app to protect sensitive data (personal and work).

One the camera front, the Galaxy Note 5 rocks a 16 megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash along with f/1.9 aperture and Optical Image Stabilisation. The rear camera It has a 5 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. Users can click pictures with ‘Pro’ mode which has the capability to shoot images in RAW format and can also control shutter speed. It is 7.6 mm thick and weighs 171 grams. It has heart rate sensor on the back and fingerprint scanner on the home button.

The Galaxy Note 5 comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), WiFi Direct, Bluetooth 4.2 LE & apt-X, GPS, GLONASS and NFC as connectivity options. The phablet is powered by a 3,000 mAh non-replaceable battery under the hood with fast charging, which charges it completely in 90 minutes. It also comes with new fast wireless charging which charges it completely in 120 minutes.


The Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is available in white pearl, black sapphire, gold platinum and silver titan colour variants. It goes on sale in USA and Canada starting August 21 and can be pre-ordered from today. There is no information on pricing yet, will be based on region. It comes with a keyboard cover accessory that makes it useful to plug and type.
