The much awaited Samsung Galaxy Note 4 is official now. The phablet has a much more premium look with a new metallic finish. The Galaxy Note 4 resembles the same design language as the recently announced Galaxy Alpha. It has an aluminium frame running around the side of the device. The faux leather back which was introduced with the Note 3 has been done away with, being replaced by a textured panel which gives the device a premium feel. The Note 4 measures 153.5 x 78.6 x 8.5 mm and weighs 176 grams.
The Galaxy Note 4 features a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 1440 x 2560 pixels, also has a whopping pixel density of 515 ppi. It has Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection for scratches. The phablet will be powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 chipset with quad-core 2.5 GHz Krait 450 CPU, Adreno 420 GPU and 3 GB of RAM. It will come with 32 GB of internal memory which can also be expanded up to 64 GB via microSD card.
The Note 4 will also come in an Exynos variant as well, as we have seen in the past. It will pack in an octa-core processor with four Cortex-A57 clocked at 1.9 GHz and four Cortex-A53 running at 1.3 GHz, Mali-T760 GPU and also 3 GB of RAM. The most noticeable difference among the two variants other than the chipset is that the Snapdragon version will offer LTE Cat.6 (300 Mbps) connectivity, while the Exynos version gets LTE Cat.4 (150 Mbps).
The Galaxy Note 4 runs on Android 4.4.4 Kitkat with the latest version of the TouchWiz on top of it. It has the same fingerprint scanner as of the Galaxy S5 but with added functionality. Samsung has also redesigned the S Pen stylus that offers better grip now. The softwares which utilises the S Pen – S Note, Multi Window has been updated with new features too. It has also drafted in the Heart-rate sensor which was introduced in the Galaxy S5.
The Galaxy Note 4 comes with a 16 megapixel Sony IMX240 camera sensor with optical image stabilization and dual-LED flash. It is capable of capturing 4K UHD videos at 30 fps. On the front, it now has a 3.7 megapixel sensor which is capable of shooting images and videos in WQHD resolution (2560 x 1440 pixels).
The Note 4 includes Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b.b/n/ac, dualband, Wi-Fi Direct, DLNA, Wi-Fi hotspot, Bluetooth 4.0, A-GPS with GLONASS and 4G LTE support. It will come with a 3,220 mAh battery, which according to the company will last a day without any hassle. The phablet will be available in frosted white, charcoal black, bronze gold and blossom pink colour options.
The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 would be available from October and the official price has not been announced yet. We guess they are waiting for the announcement of the new iPhones which will be unveiled on September 9.
