Samsung has officially launched two new mid-rangers in their ‘Galaxy J series’ – Galaxy J5 Prime and Galaxy J7 Prime in India today. Lets check out the specifications, features and pricing of the Galaxy J5 Prime here.

Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime Specifications

The Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime features a 5.0-inch (1280 x 720 pixels) HD IPS 2.5D display, that is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass. It is powered by a 1.4 GHz quad-core processor. It comes with 2 GB of RAM along with 16 GB of internal storage, which can be further expanded up to 256 GB via microSD card. The device runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow OS out of the box with TouchWiz UI on top of it.

On the camera front, it rocks a 13 megapixel rear camera with LED flash and f/1.9 aperture. There is a 5 megapixel front-facing camera with f/2.2 aperture for selfies and video calling. It has a unibody metal design that is 8.1 mm thick and weighs 143 grams. It supports Dual SIM, comes with a 3.5 mm audio jack and a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button.

In the connectivity department, the Galaxy J5 Prime comes with 4G LTE, 3G HSPA+, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.1 and GPS. The smartphone packs a 2,400 mAh battery under the hood.

New features like S Power Planning and S Secure has been introduced with this phone, which address consumers’ power management and security related concerns. The S Power Planning has three features – Reserve battery for calls, which enables the consumer to allocate a certain percentage of the battery for calls and messages; Extend Battery time, which allows user to extend the usage time of the phone up to twice the current available time and Forward calls when no battery, wherein the user can forward the calls to a selected contact or any number when the phone runs out of battery.

S Secure addresses the consumers’ concerns on security and privacy and it has three features – Lock and hide apps, which allows users to hide or lock applications; Secure Folder, where the user can stores files for increased privacy and security and Secure WiFi, which enables consumers to browse worry free especially on a public WiFi by encrypting data which is being transferred.

The Samsung Galaxy J5 Prime is available in Black and Gold color variants. It has been priced at Rs 14,790 and will go on sale in India by the end of September. The company has also launched the Galaxy J7 Prime priced at Rs 18,790. Customers buying either of these smartphones will get 10GB Vodafone data over 3 months for the price of 1GB data.
