Samsung launched Galaxy A3 and A5 sometime at the end of last year and the Galaxy A7 couple of months back. This lead to the inception of Galaxy A series. The Galaxy A8 will take forward the A series.
According to sources at SamMobile, the Galaxy A8 is under development and will be a China-Only smartphone. They have even managed to find out the specifications of the device. It is going to be the most feature packed mid-range smartphone from Samsung if we look at the hardware.
Samsung Galaxy A8 Specifications
The Galaxy A8 will feature a 5.7-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD Super AMOLED display, making it the largest Galaxy A device yet. It will be powered by an 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. It will have 2 GB of RAM and come with 16 GB of internal memory. There is no information if it will come with expandable memory or not. The device will run on Android 5.0.1 Lollipop OS with TouchWiz on top of it.
The Galaxy A8 will rock a with a 16 megapixel rear primary camera with LED flash. It will be the first non-flagship device from Samsung with a 16 megapixel shooter. However, it remains to be seen if it will be the same sensor used on the Galaxy S6/S6 Edge. On the front, it will have a 5-megapixel front-facing camera with wide-angle lens for better selfies and video calling. It will be just 5.9 mm thick in spite of the large 5.7-inch display and weigh 140 grams. The smartphone will be 4G LTE enabled along with usual connectivity options.
The specifications might vary when the product is launched but should more or less have the same hardware as mentioned. However, it remains to be seen if the Galaxy A8 is limited to China or makes it to other regions as well. On paper, it looks promising and if Samsung gets the pricing right, they might have a crack at the mid-range market again.
