Reserve the Ultra-secure smartphone – the Turing phone, starts at USD 610

In this ever-increasing smartphone world, few manufacturers are turning to the niche market rather than mainstream. These niche phones have some differentiating factors. Today, we are looking at the Turing phone, which has been described to be ‘unhackable’ by their markers.

The Turing phone has been showed off at couple of trade shows and the company has also started taking reservations for the device, which is a good sign. Lets take a look at the specifications and features.

Turing phone Specifications

The Turing phone features a 5.5-inch (1920 x 1080 pixels) Full HD display, which is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4. It is powered by a 2.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 (MSM8974AC) 64-bit processor. It has 3 GB of RAM and comes with 16 / 64 / 128 GB internal memory. The device┬áruns on Android 5.1 out of the box but is heavily modified and encrypted by Turing Aemeath UI, which makes it ‘unhackable’.

It comes with a 13 megapixel primary rear camera with Dual LED flash. On the front, there is a 8 megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling. It also comes with a fingerprint scanner for biometric authentication. On the connectivity front, it packs in 4G LTE, 3G, WiFi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac (Dual Band), Bluetooth 4.0 LE, NFC, GPS and GLONASS. It packs in a 3,000 mAh non-removable battery under the hood.

The Turing phone has a very unique angular design and the body is wrapped around by a ‘Liquidmorphium’ frame. The material used here is being claimed to be stronger than steel by the company. It is also IPX8 certified which makes it water-resistant as well. In order to make the phone ultra-secure, both USB port and headphone jack is missing. However, you get a Wallaby Magstream power cable and adapter which works with the proprietary port and a Turing Gaming Bluetooth Earphone is part of the box. It is further encrypted by the Turing Imitation Key, which helps in sending private messages to the user and a private key to decrypt them. These are handled locally so that the phone remains secure.

The Turing phone is available in Beowulf, Pharaoh and Cardinal colour/pattern variants. Price starts at US $610 for the 16GB variant, $740 for 64GB and $840 for the 128GB variant. These ultra-secure devices are on reservation and not on pre-order. Thus, you will not be actually charged for it right now but can show an interest by placing an order.
