Redmi 1s to go on sale for Rs 5,999 on September 2; registration start today at 6pm

Xiaomi announced the Redmi 1s yesterday at an event in Bangalore and we reported it could be sold at a price below Rs 6,999 which was announced when Xiaomi entered India. Today, Mi India on their facebook page announced the Redmi 1s will go on sale on September 2 for a price of Rs 5,999 on Flipkart and registration will start on August 26 at 6 pm. Redmi 1s is up for registration now. The Redmi 1s has been priced at Rs 5,999 only which will surely rock the lower end of the indian smartphone market. Specially, the recently launched Asus Zenfone 4 – A450CG could feel the heat. It will be available via the flash sale model which is also used for the Mi 3. 40,000 units of Redmi 1s will be up for sale on September 2 along with the accessories which include the screen protectors, which will be available in shiny and matte finish for Rs 179, a back cover for Rs 469 and a flip cover for Rs 559.


The Redmi 1s is a budget phone from Xiaomi which is priced at Rs. 6,999. It has a 4.7 inch 720P LED IPS Display with 321 ppi. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8228 1.6GHz processor. On the camera front, it has a 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.6 megapixel front facing camera. It comes with a 2000 mAh removable battery.


Redmi 1s has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It weighs 158 grams and is 9.9 mm in thickness. It comes with an expandable storage slot which can fit in SD cards up to 64GB. It will come preloaded with Android 4.3 JellyBean (upgradable to 4.4 Kitkat) with MIUI v5 on top. It is a dual SIM phone. You can find more about it here.

The Redmi 1s will be supported by Xiaomi’s 35+ service centres across India including two exclusive Mi service centres in Delhi and Bangalore to ensure a robust after-sale service. Also, four more service centres are coming online in next 2 months in Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad and Mumbai.
