Redmi 1s to go on sale on September 2 at 2pm on Flipkart; 40000 units available

Xiaomi‘s latest offering for the Indian smartphone market, the Redmi 1s went on a special sale today where first 2,000 Flipkart First subscribers were able to purchase the phone. Now, registered users would be able to purchase the Redmi 1s on September 2 at 2pm. A screen protector as well as SIM card adapter would be given free with every Redmi 1s order and would be automatically added to your cart.

Following the foot steps of the Mi 3, Xiaomi’s Redmi 1s will also go on sale via the flash sale model on Flipkart on a Tuesday afternoon (2 pm). Unlike the Mi 3, there will be plenty of stock of the Redmi 1s, 40,000 units to be more specific. The Mi 3 saw crazy demands compared to its stock and had around 1.5 lakh registered users for each of its sale. The Redmi 1s will take that level one notch higher. Over 2,50,000 people have registered for it and would be competing for 40,000 units tomorrow. Yes, we are not kidding and you read it right, 2.5 Lakh!
As Mi India posted on their Facebook page today, it will surely be “Going Red” today.

Xiaomi has also started selling the Piston 2 headphones today and we have already reviewed them. You can check out our review here. They are out of stock now and we do not have any idea how many were in stock but expect it to be available again in few days time.

To recap on the specifications, Redmi 1s is a budget phone from Xiaomi which is priced at Rs. 5,999. It has a 4.7 inch 720P LED IPS Display with 321 ppi. It comes with Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 MSM8228 1.6GHz processor. On the camera front, it has a 8 megapixel rear camera and 1.6 megapixel front facing camera for selfies. It comes with a 2050 mAh removable battery. It has AGC Dragontrail scratch resistant glass instead of Corning Gorilla Glass 3.

Redmi 1s has 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage. It weighs 158 grams and is 9.9 mm in thickness. It comes with an expandable storage slot which can fit in SD cards up to 64GB. It will come preloaded with Android 4.3 JellyBean (upgradable to 4.4 Kitkat) with MIUI v5 on top. It is a dual SIM phone with only one SIM supporting 3G. You can find more about it here.

We wish all the 2,50,000 people, the very best to get their hands on this phone but alas around 2,10,000 people would be disappointed by the time the clock strikes 2:01 pm. We expect the phone to be sold out in 2-3 seconds as well.

So, It’s Time to Go Red!
